A substance that is rarely found on the inner planets, but is apparently in somewhat higher quantities in the outer planets. The Pirate Clans of Saturn began mining dark matter following their ancestors abandonment by the Home World Senate. They discovered that Dark Matter uses some property to render itself partially invisible. Through some means, the pirates developed a means to utilize Dark Matter to grant their ships the ability to become invisible to the naked and to most sensors.
Prolonged exposure to dark matter produces a condition known as Dark Matter Syndrome.
